dial telephone, internet access, radio alarm and
complimentary toiletries.
A wide choice of menu
including excellent vegetarian dishes is
available in the non-smoking restaurant or the

600 feet above sea level and surrounded on three
sides by the Lammermuir Hills, Lauder follows the oldest established route
between Edinburgh and England. Britain's first coast to coast footpath, the
Southern Upland Way, also passes through Lauder. The single main street
preserves the towns original medieval form, and ends at the Market Place,
overlooked by the old Tollbooth. Unusually, the Parish Church is laid out in
the form of a Greek Cross. Whilst Thirlestane Castle is noted for its
plasterwork ceilings from the Restoration period, an historic toy collection
and its Border country life exhibitions. The castle is also host to the
Scottish Championship Horse Trials held during the summer month of May.
Visitors to the town can enjoy free parking.
