Close to the Border, by the Liddel Water, the
village of Newcastleton. Founded in 1793 by the Duke of Buccleuch, in
earlier times the area was known as "The debatable Land". The Liddesdale
Heritage Centre documents the area's past. Close by you will find the 14th
century Hermitage Castle. July brings the Traditional Music Festival. Other
popular events include the Craft Fayre in May, Liddesdale Agricultural Show
