For walking enthusiasts the Southern Upland Way passes nearby and there are numerous marked walks around the Border towns along riverbanks and in the surrounding countryside. Great mountain biking can be enjoyed at Glentress and Innerleithen and visitors to Hartwoodmyres also enjoy free fishing at nearby Maggets Reservoir.
