St Neots is another market town located on the
Great Ouse. It to owes its existence to a priory, built by Benedictine monks
in the 10th century and named after a diminutive Saxon hermit. The building
survived until Henry V111 ordered the destruction of monasteries. Today,
only its foundations remain. The town has a large square and a 15th century
church, replete with elaborate roof carvings.
