Built in 1868, our
non-smoking guest house is reminiscent of
gracious residences of yesteryear: individually
appointed bedrooms are decorated with Laura
Ashley colours and soft furnishings, many
furnished with antique furniture, including
beautiful romantic antique Louis XV beds and
antique George IV four poster beds. The beds
have comfortable pocket sprung mattresses.
Bedrooms have en-suite or private facilities,
hospitality trays, remote control colour TVs and
access to hairdryers. Our breakfast menu offers
quality local produce: handmade sausage and hand
cut bacon; vegetarian choices include oven-fresh
croissants and delectable muffins. The guest
lounge has Lakeland views. Blenheim Lodge is
only 5 minutes' walk from Bowness town, Lake
Windermere and the pier. Walkers will find us an
ideal location: ours is the first guest house in
Bowness off the Dales Way - literally a minute's
walk from our front door! We offer 2 free WAADA
fishing permits (first come first served).
Private parking available for cars, cyclists and
bikers. Facilities for cyclists and bikers
include outside taps for boots and a drying room
for damp gear. We can also arrange golfing,
sailing, guided walks and tours, and offer free
membership to a private country club 7 minutes'

jacuzzi & steam/sauna room and well-equipped
gymnasium at a nearby hotel. Hillsdale is in the
centre of Ambleside and only four miles from
Bowness. Ambleside itself has much to offer with a
wealth of specialist shops, good quality pubs and
restaurants, including an excellent vegetarian
restaurant. There are two cinemas, tennis courts
and in season, crown green bowling, pitch & putt,
crazy golf, a playground and park.
