Grovewood house is
situated in the small rural village of Sandwith
which lies midway between the coastal village of
St. Bees & the harbour town of Whitehaven, on
the western coast of Cumbria.
On our doorstep is the
beautiful Lake District including Ennerdale,
Loweswater & Wasdale "Britain's favourite view".

Premier Inn Whitehaven is northeast of Parton and Whitehaven and about 1 mile from the coast. It is just off the A595 and has free parking and an on-site Table Table restaurant.
An important industrial town in the 18th century,
it became the largest port in the country after London and Bristol. The
Beacon is a harbour side museum which describes in detail the history of
this seaside town. Buried at St. Nicholas Church, was Mildred Warner Gale,
the grandmother of George Washington lived in the town. The 19th century St.
Nicholas Church is now a ruin following a fire in 1971.
