Once home to the renowned Cumbrian doctor and scientist William Brownrigg Ormathwaite Hall is a grand 18th century house commanding glorious views of the Skiddaw mountain range to Grisedale and Causey Pikes and beyond to Derwent Water and the Borrowdale Fells. In the Hall's three acres of grounds visitors can wander beside a cascading open stream or stroll through mature oak and beech woodland where deer and the rare red squirrel can be seen. The garden's lawned terraces invite relaxation there is a walled kitchen garden with paved walkways to enjoy and a stream and wetland area. Boasting an art deco bathroom and an intricately carved oak staircase the Hall oozes originality and quality in each individually styled beautifully furnished room yet retains the warmth and comfort of a family home. Walks to Skiddaw start from the door and excellent fishing climbing and hiking can be found locally. Keswick (1 mile) offers good shops pubs and restaurants tennis a swimming pool sports centre and golf (18 holes).
