Previously known as The Commercial and the Galloway Arms the Pheasant Hotel now offers excellent
accommodation for visitors to the Dalbeattie area looking for a practical and comfortable base from which to explore the local area.

Founded in 1780 on the Water of Urr and largely
built from granite, its main reason for being was to export the rock mined
from quarries on Craignar Hill. These would end up to form parts of the
Thames Embankment and Liverpool Docks. Dalbeattie today is surrounded by
countryside and offers visitors to region many excellent walks. Said to be
the largest and best-preserved Norman motte and bailey earthworks in
Britain, is the 12th
Century Motte of Urr.
