Trigony House Hotel
Trigony House Hotel Thornhill DG3 5EZ
Trigony House Hotel is a wonderfully relaxed family run Edwardian Country House Hotel set in 5 acres of gardens & woodland in the beautiful Nithsdale valley. Elegant restaurant serves classic dishes.
This is where the bicycle was invented by the
local blacksmith Kirkpatrick MacMillan in 1839. He wanted a machine that
would save his energy when he travelled through the nearby hills. The town
itself has two boulevards, lined with old lime trees, and a column dating
from 1714, bearing the winged horse emblem of the Queensferry family. Later
restored in 1955, due to storm damage. Made out of pink sandstone,
Drumlanrig Castle,
Gardens and Country Park is the home of the Duke of Buccleuth and
Queensberry. One of Scotland’s most important pieces of architecture, also
features a renowned art collection.
