comfortable house in Castle Douglas has been in
the family for nearly five decades. In the
"olden days" it used to be two flats, one up,
one down. We love visiting it ourselves, and we
keep making wee improvements here and there -

Eat in or out, there's plenty of choice. The

We rear rare breeds of sheep cattle and
pigs and also use Norwegian Fjord horses
and a Dales pony for carriage driving.
The house sits in an elevated position in the Urr
Valley well known for its trout, salmon and sea
trout fishing. Croys has many attractive south
facing rooms with original fine plaster work. The
dining room has French windows leading to the
sunken garden surrounded by Topiary. The grounds
and our stream are beautiful all year round. All
rooms are to a high standard (en-suite available)
all with TV, tea/coffee making facilities. Four

Our cottages on the Threave Estate are an ideal
base for exploring the surrounding countryside
and coastline. The old Kelton Mill just off the
A75 has been imaginatively converted into these
delightful cottages, recently refurbished and
full of character. Car parking is available in
front of both cottages. Children are most
welcome, however, parents/guardians should be
aware of the stream behind both cottages.
Our log cabins overlook the golf course and the
loch surrounded by hills and forest teeming with
wildlife, and only a quarter mile inland from
the Dumfries and Galloway coast. All of the
Scandinavian style self catering holiday chalets
are individually owned, and individually
furnished, but all are comfortable, well
equipped, with central heating for year round
use and were awarded 3 stars by the Scottish
Tourist Board.
There are three types of
accommodation; all equipped for the freedom of
self-catering and our prices include bed linen &
towels. All chalets have TV and DVD, some have
dishwashers and satellite. Not all chalets have
all of these - please ask on booking.
Our facilities
include; a bar and restaurant, a small
children's playground, two purpose built boules
courts overlooked by terraced seating areas with
panoramic views, a laundrette, an indoor heated
pool, sauna, baby sitting service (which must be
pre-booked). There is lots for the active guest
with sixteen golf courses within twenty miles,
the nearest being Colvend which is two minutes
by car from our site and which many of the
chalets overlook. Share the free fishing with
the otters in Barend Loch, where 14lb carp have
been caught. Cycles are available for hire on
site. Dumfries and Galloway has over 400 miles
of sign-posted cycle routes.
