Nether Barr
Steading is a fine stone built courtyard
steading that has been converted into six
self-catering lodges and now has a small
restaurant and bar on site.
The Steading dates back to the 1800's and
was originally the stud farm for Lord
Galloway's estate. Set in 15 acres of
farmland elevated above the River Cree,
The Nether Barr enjoys magnificent views
towards the Galloway Hills.
Being sympathetically renovated to the design of
the original building really enhances the
natural charm. Each lodge offers spacious
and comfortable accommodation within a
traditional exterior. Doors to the lodges lead
off the central gravelled courtyard. The living
areas are open plan incorporating lounge/dining
area/kitchen, allowing the rooms to have a light
and airy feel whilst making the most of
available space. The kitchens are fully equipped
with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer
and washer/dryer. The lounge areas have a CD
player, colour television with text and most
lodges have a DVD player (reception hosts a DVD
library - guests can use this facility free of
charge). All bathrooms have a shaver point and a
shower and/or bath. Linen (except for cots) and
towels are provided. Maid service available.

available and guests are free to wander around
the 15 acres of farm land. Well-behaved pets are
welcome by prior arrangement but dogs must be
kept on a lead. With dramatic unspoilt
landscapes, beautiful coastlines, lochs and
