Nether Barr
Steading is a fine stone built courtyard
steading that has been converted into six
self-catering cottages. The Steading
dates back to the 1800's and was originally
the stud farm for Lord Galloway's estate.
Set in 15 acres of farmland elevated above the
River Cree, The Nether Barr enjoys magnificent
views towards the Galloway Hills. Being
sympathetically renovated to the design of the
original building really enhances the natural
charm. Each cottage offers spacious and
comfortable accommodation within a traditional
exterior.
Doors to the lodges lead
off the central gravelled courtyard. The living
areas are open plan incorporating lounge/dining
area/kitchen, allowing the rooms to have a light
and airy feel whilst making the most of
available space. The kitchens are fully equipped
with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer
and washer/dryer. The lounge areas have a CD
player, flat screen television with text and all
cottages have a DVD player (reception hosts a DVD
library - guests can use this facility free of
charge). All bathrooms have a shaver point and a
shower and/or bath. Linen (except for cots) and
towels are provided. Maid service available. There is plenty of parking
available and guests are free to wander around
the 15 acres of farm land. Well-behaved pets are
welcome by prior arrangement but dogs must be
kept on a lead. With dramatic unspoilt
landscapes, beautiful coastlines, lochs and
mountains. From bird watching, walking, cycling
or generally just relaxing, this area has
something for everyone and a warm welcome
awaits!
