The town of Inverkeithing has many interesting
historic buildings. St. Peter's Kirk dates back to the 5th century, whilst
Inverkeithing Priory and the Mercat Cross date back to the 14th Century, and
the 17th Century Fordell's Lodging. The local museum is located on the floor
of a 14th century friary guest house and contains local photographs,
paintings and artefacts. The location of the Battle of Inverkeithing took
place in 1651, when Oliver Cromwell's army overran the supporters of Charles
II as advanced north towards Perth.
