At the eastern end of Loch Leven, with mountains
on three sides, this quaint village developed around aluminium works built
in the early part of the 20th century. Today it lies on the West Highland
Way and is the ideal location for walkers. One path leads to one of the
highest waterfalls in Britain, Grey Mare’s Waterfall, whilst the second
follows a trail to the Pass of Glencoe via the Devil’s Staircase. There is a
huge indoor climbing centre, which contains the world’s largest indoor ice
climbing facility.
