A splendid 17th-century coaching house overlooking the Old Market Place in Alford. Ideal for the coast and Cadwell Park. All our rates include a full English breakfast.
Pronounced "Olford" in Lincolnshire, Alford was a
small hamlet in pre-Norman times - it was easy to ford the local stream.
With the arrival of the railway and the Alford to Sutton-on-Sea steam tram
in 1884, the town prospered. Famous for Hoyle's Mill, one of only three
working, five-sailed windmills remaining in Lincolnshire today. St.
Wilfrid's Church, dates back to the 13th century and is the towns oldest
building. The Queen Elizabeth Grammar School originally started in a room
above the porch here.
