Norman Angel, the Nobel Peace Prize Winner of
1933 who was born in the house in 1872.

The market town of Holbeach was awarded its
Market Charter in 1252. Severe flooding was recorded in the 13th and 16th
centuries with the sea coming within miles of the town. After land drainage
schemes began in the 18th century the coastline of The Wash gradually moved
nine miles away. Buildings of note include the 14th century All Saints'
Church, built by incorporating parts of the ruined Norman castle.
