Attleborough is a small Saxon market town with a
village green, and the magnificent Norman Church of St. Mary. A 15th century
52 foot wide oak rood screen spans the nave. St. Edmund spent a year here
before becoming king in 856AD. A handful of locals sailed to America with
the Pilgrim Fathers. The town stages the annual, week-long carnival in June.
