Number 28
28 Castle Street Warkworth NE65 0UL
Number 28 is situated in the heart of the picturesque Northumberland village of Warkworth. With its array of art galleries, restaurants and pubs, Warkworth is nestled in a loop, on the River Coquet, dominated by the impressive remains of Warkworth Castle and the mediaeval church of St Lawrence.
Surrounded by the River Coquet, Warkworth offers
excellent river and sea fishing, together with miles of golden sandy beach
and extensive dunes. Overlooking the town, Warkworth Castle is one of the
most splendid ruins of its type in Northumberland. Originally built in 1139
and extended throughout the 13th and 14th centuries. Much of its structure
remains with us today. Pedestrians access the village through a narrow
medieval bridge dating back to the 14th century, and once the only method to
enter the village. St Laurence's Church is fairly complete and the only
Norman church in county. There's also a nine hole golf course, several good
hotels, restaurants and gift shops.
