A pub is just 100 yards and the marina has a café and small licensed shop that also sells fishing tackle. There are excellent towpath and country walks as well as canal boat hire for exploring 17 miles of canal (with 7 pubs to visit!). The Ironbridge Museum Shugborough Hall and Chester Zoo are good day trips.
