warm welcome, peace and tranquillity close to
the historic town of Arundel, with a high
standard of accommodation. The house takes its
name from an old Medlar tree, which stands in
the garden and jelly is made from its fruit.
Close to the house there
are lovely walks in and around Poling, on the
south downs, along the river Arun and in
Arundel. Portsmouth, Chichester and Goodwood are
within easy reach to the West and Worthing and
Brighton to the East. Gatwick Airport is 45
minutes by car or train. London Victoria is
within 90 minutes by train.
So Medlar Cottage is ideally situated. Our rooms
are warm, bright and comfortable with fine views
over farmland. All rooms have tea and coffee
making facilities, TV, clock radios and hair
dryers. Guests fridge, washing, drying and
ironing facilities available. Parking for cars
on site. Lock-up garage for car/bicycles if
required. A lovely rural English country Bed and

A visit to Arundel is
like taking a step back into the past. Arundel
is the Historic Heart of the South Downs. Your
first view of the town is guaranteed to take
your breath away. Dominated by the 11th Century
Norman Castle and Roman Catholic Gothic
cathedral which sit side-by-side, high on a
hillside, Arundel has quaint narrow streets,
specialist shops and a good mix of restaurants.
Separate from the main
house, with its own access, the River Room
offers a secluded overnight, with twin beds, TV,
tea & coffee making facilities and en-suite
shower room. There is external seating on the
decked area outside or on the river bank, which
offers outstanding views of Arundel, including
the Castle and Cathedral. With a continental
breakfast served to you in your room, the price
for a couple or two people sharing is only £60
per night for the room (£55 for single
occupancy).
