mansion, Newby Hall, is one of the finest stately homes in the region. From
the spectacular ruins of Fountains Abbey to the adjacent grounds and
magnificent garden of Studley Royal, to Ripon’s magnificent cathedral,
originally a church built in the 7th century. Its crypt can still be seen in
the 13th century cathedral, which also contains 500-year-old woodcarvings
and many wonderful stained glass windows.
